While we had actually met the year prior in the same new student orientation training group (IYKYK), our relationship began in 2017 while Hans was a junior and Katie was a sophomore at Cal Poly. We spent the following summer getting to know each other and enjoying San Luis Obispo together before Katie headed to Europe to study abroad in the fall. Our relationship continued to grow through the long distance though, with Hans even visiting Katie in London over Thanksgiving break. This set the stage for all the future travels and adventures to come.

After graduating, we lived in San Luis Obispo for a couple years, going to wineries, the beach, and the occasional taco Tuesday. A few years later, after Covid, we got to live in two cities when we did long distance again between San Diego and San Francisco. With early morning flights and working remotely, we got the taste of bigger cities and new places to explore.

After a year of long distance, in 2023 we moved in together in San Francisco, where we continue to enjoy taking walks along the water, trying new restaurants, picnicking at the park, and of course taking Muni to a new neighborhood.

On January 11, 2025, Hans took Katie on a drive to get a cute jacket at Uniqlo. To Katie's surprise, a stop was made at Battery Godfrey where Hans popped the question (she said Yes). Our engagement was followed by a family dinner with the parents and siblings, marking the merging of the two families we both love.

Now getting married back in San Luis Obispo where it all began, we are excited to begin a new chapter together.
